Yearly “haunts” at Darkwing Manor & Morguetorium Museum always include a potluck in the break room. In addition to the delicious hot food supplied by our sponsors, we minions are expected to bring a side dish to share. Usually there’s a ton of chips and salsa, wraps, cupcakes and other goodies, but this year I came across this delightful little recipe from allrecipes.com. They’re much like Christmas cookies. My only recommendation is to make sure you make them really skinny when you're rolling them out before baking. Otherwise they get too fat and begin to look like ogre’s fingers—which you may actually want, in which case you should add a little green food coloring. Happy munching!

I'm the kind of person who laughs easily when I hear other people laughing. In fact, I've always laughed easily. But the older I get, it seems like the gasping, gut-wobbling belly laugh that prompts wheezing seems harder to come by. Mostly it happens when I'm with friends at my writer's group or playing Mah Jong, and we've managed to get each other going. Afterwards when we're wiping our tears, we all feel a lot better, so it must be good for you. I got this from WebMD: "Research shows laughter can improve your health: It helps reduce stress hormones, like cortisol and adrenalin, and pumps up immune system activity by increasing interferon, T cells and white blood cells. A hearty guffaw or belly laugh can also boost heart rate, improves blood flow, and stabilizes blood pressure." Here are a couple more resources to support my claims: The Nutrition Research Center: Can Laughing Your Ass Off Heal You? Planet Matters and More: Laughter Therapy Resource Page I'd like to start one of those "Laughter Clubs" around here. Anyone in? In the meantime, hearing other people laugh usually gets me going, so I've compiled a few links to people laughing on the Internet which I will share with you. I hope they are contagious enough to get you going, too. Go ahead. Yuck it up! And, if like me, you appreciate the infantile simplicity of a good fart joke, you'll be on the road to good health in minutes with these! Darkwing Manor and Morguetorium Museum is gathering strength, getting ready for another amazing haunt! On my break, I found this guy hanging out on the back porch, trying to figure out his source of motivation. It’s my second year, so even though the process is no longer a surprise, things seem to come out of the creases and folds of this old Victorian property that we haven’t suspected. We, meaning Wayne has joined the forces of the haunt prep. He’s not ready to be a character, but perhaps with a little nudging… but I don’t push. Anyway, since this place is only a couple of miles down the road and we’d been watching the progress of their storage facilities from the road for a long time, it’s really impossible to guess what’s going to come down on a winch from storage, or on one of the tractors… now we’re on the property, building scenes, fixing up Styrofoam gravestones and painting signs. It’s going to be great! |
Here's where I expound on whatever I'm passionate about at the time. I welcome your comments, as long as you're not hateful, a terrorist, or attempting to pedal work-at-home offers.
