Welcome to my winter Happy Place: Mt. Ashland in Southern Oregon. Once or twice a week I drive up here to surrender myself to gravity, hurtling down the hill at breakneck speeds to my favorite songs, my awareness stowed firmly in my feet. I find this relaxing and somewhat cathartic.
That said, we’ll be cruising at an altitude of about 7,500 feet—a sweet, zippy slide on a trail called Dream. The shadow is me. I invite you to see what I see.

Oh yeah, I made “goal” last week in Weight Watchers. I lost 40 pounds—another reason to get out and celebrate!
